Have you just finished your navigation course and want to try out your skills, or perhaps you fancy the delights of cruiser racing. Perhaps you have had enough of being dunked in the water and needing a wet suit, be warned cruiser racing isn’t always warm and dry!
Skippers are frequently looking for crews.
If you wish to crew please send an email to the secretary email@example.com with information you wish put on this page. Information will be cut and pasted from the body of the email and displayed until the end of the season or until requested to remove it.
Skippers, if you are looking for crew contact the secretary firstname.lastname@example.org with details of what you require displayed on this page.
PYRA do not warrant the competence of skippers or seaworthiness of their yachts.
Crews should satisfy themselves of the competence of skippers and seaworthiness of their yachts

Local from Parkstone available for crewing opportunities on a casual or arranged basis.
Hi my name is Steph, I am a local 27 year old looking to get back out on the water!
As a teenager I was a member of Parkstone and then Poole yacht club, where I crewed for smaller dinghies in races and had my own Laser. Since then I have sailed for a week as part of a crew of 4 on a 44ft yacht in Turkey and most recently, last November I crewed for a month for a friend on a 33ft yacht sailing from Colombia to Panama and around the San Blas Islands. I am looking to get back on the water a this season for fun or for racing.
I am pretty flexible availability wise. I could be free most evenings and weekends or even some times in the week days depending on work.
If you are interested or have any questions, please contact me.

Andy Sands. Age 54. Looking for crewing opportunities.
I did Yachtmaster theory and Dayskipper Practical a few years ago, although haven’t put them into practice very much and am low on practical experience but willing and agile enough. I have a Hurley 24/70 at PYC. I have a Laser at PYC and join in the club racing occasionally. I have crewed as a guest on some 37/42ft Sunsail boats at Cowes Week over a number of years.
I live in Hemel Hempstead, but have a base in Hamworthy, so can generally be available at weekends.
More inclined to fun than competitiveness and shorter handed sailing for maximum involvement, but happy to go with the ethos of the boat and to fit in as needed.

I am looking for a place on a boat to race. I have had 2 years crewing for a friend in Jersey where we did both round the cans and passage races. With the emphasis on having fun rather than chasing honours. I’m 56 and reasonably fit and have a RYA Day Skipper practical ticket.
I can be available evenings and weekends.
Contact me at khawkes42 “at” gmail.com or on 07746671821.

I’m a single guy, reasonably educated engineer with a methodical mind from the North but now living in Bournemouth. I have a fascination of the sea and really enjoy sailing even though I only started in 2016 after an opportunity for a social sail. I have my Comp Crew and VHF plus my Day Skipper (theory and practice). I have approx 1500 miles in my log including two trips across the channel to Cherbourg, Alderney, Guernsey and St Vaast last year. Later this year (2018) I plan on obtaining my first aid and coastal/ yachtmaster theory certificate. I believe this is like learning to drive that now I can really start to learn by offering my help as crew on board cruisers in return for varied experience of sailing both social sailing and also trying my hand at cruiser racing. I took early retirement some years ago so now am available most of the time at short notice.
