Crew List

Have you just finished your navigation course and want to try out your skills, or perhaps you fancy the delights of cruiser racing. Perhaps you have had enough of being dunked in the water and needing a wet suit, be warned cruiser racing isn’t always warm and dry!

Skippers are frequently looking for crews.

If you wish to crew please send an email to the secretary with information you wish put on this page. Information will be cut and pasted from the body of the email and displayed until the end of the season or until requested to remove it.

Skippers, if you are looking for crew contact the secretary with details of what you require displayed on this page.

PYRA do not warrant the competence of skippers or seaworthiness of their yachts.

Crews should satisfy themselves of the competence of skippers and seaworthiness of their yachts

Sailing Experience

When I was younger, I lived on the coast of Southern Spain which opened up the opportunity of learning how to sail as & when I could. I began sailing on Hobie Cats and thoroughly enjoyed being out on the water. I later moved back to the UK to pursue further education and since joining PYC, I am very much looking forward to getting back into sailing once again and meeting similar minded sailors.

I am looking for opportunities to crew on and be a general helping hand on cruiser yachts throughout the season and learn as much as I can in the process.

Aside from the main cruiser races that take place on a weekly basis at PYC, I would also be available for any non-racing events. If you require an extra set of hands onboard, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Hobbies and Interests

I would consider myself to be quite an active person, as I would attend the gym throughout the week (prior to covid). I enjoy going on walks through and around Salisbury as I am still fairly new to the area. I also enjoy rock-climbing, cycling & spending time with family & friends.

My name is Alexis Ernst and I live in Lower Parkstone. I have sailed for many years both dinghies/ 2 man catamarans and yachts, the latter mainly racing in the Solent in recent years. I have recently moved to Poole and would welcome the opportunity to crew locally. I have my Day Skipper and also Yachtmaster Theory. I also sailed part of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 11 years ago. I mainly do Spinnaker trim, pit or navigation roles but happy to fill in where needed – though I’m less comfortable on the bow!

I am available as a crew member for evening and weekend events. You can contact me by email at or on 07939 106561
