Poole Yacht Racing Association are heeding Government advice and whilst the PYRA Committee are closely monitoring changes in the environment which is affecting us all, all racing scheduled to take place in April and May is regrettably postponed. We will be reconsidering a revised programme of racing for 2020, however in the light of recent updates, the postponement of racing is unfortunately likely to continue into June.
Please watch the PYRA Web site and Facebook page and we will do our utmost to keep members appraised of developments.
If you have not used the PYRA Facebook ‘group’ in the past, now might be an ideal time to sign up and start doing so. The PYRA Group is an excellent way of staying in touch with fellow sailors, sharing photos, memories, stories and thoughts.
Please do renew your PYRA membership so that we can all be assured that PYRA remains as strong as ever, even if only in a virtual world for hopefully a relatively short period.
As soon as we are able to safely get out on the water we will decided upon a revised programme of racing and legendary PYRA RV’s.
Of particular note, the VPRS Nationals which was to form part of the International Paints Poole Regatta will no longer proceed as had been planned. We have however not given up on staging a 2020 Nationals and whilst a little premature to put plans in place a shorter event nearer the end of the season rather than the beginning is not out of the question, we will be looking at every opportunity open to us.
Many will be aware that the annual Round the Island race has been rescheduled to 26th September 2022. Appreciating that many of our members take part in this event any revised programme will take this into account with re-planned feeder races.
We will keep all members up to date with developments.
Stay well and take care.
The PYRA Committee.
